On Being Canadian

It wasn't s until recently that I discovered how polite, we (Canadians) actually are. I was out to lunch with Dave and his parents and as we were leaving the host thanked us and naturally we said thank you back. As we were walking back I mentioned to Dave that I thought it was weird that when they thanked us for eating there we thanked them back.

Isn't it interesting how we thanked each other, what should have happened was we should have said you're welcome. That's how it goes; someone says thank you and then you're welcome follows. However, it seems that we, as Canadians are just too polite. We somehow get awkward and shy and get thrown off when people say thank you, so in return we say thank you back.

This is weird.

Let's revert back to the old ways and say you're welcome. I mean they should be welcome, we chose their restaurant.

Food for thought, next time you go to a restaurant and they say thank you when you leave, see what you say.

I propose this: change it up, say you're welcome, they won't see it coming!

Raccoon Eyes

My favourite thing at work today was when I was entering into the doors and a 'colleague' of mine had come out of the door and was thrilled with me, she says' Oooh, looks like someone has gone skiing." I look at her with wonderment and don't say anything and she says "you're tanned, you have a sunglasses mark." I'm like, "oh ya, I know, lots of sun." And scene....

Let me give you a little bit of background. I don't wear a lot of make up, the only thing I use is mascara and coverup. I had gone through all of my cover up, but then I stumbled upon some old cover up that was pretty much full, and that I hadn't used in a while - now I know why. Turns out I stopped using it because it wasn't the right colour. You might say, it was too white.

Note to self...throw away cover up - it's just NOT the right tone.

From now on you should just refer to me as Raccoon Face.

Until then.
